It's amazing how our problem-solving skills get sorely tested in this place. This week I had major plumbing problems in my apartment. The cold water faucets weren't working and the hot water was scalding. So I had to turn off the hot-water heater but then I did not have any hot water for a bath for Monday morning. So then I turned back on the hot water heater and ran a scalding hot-water bath on Sunday for Monday's bath. By the time of Monday morning, the water had cooled sufficiently for me to get in.
Figuring out all this made me think how we are constantly having to problem-solve in Africa since we are faced with situations like this on a DAILY basis!!!
